YOUTH PIZZA RANCH FUNDRAISER will be tomorrow, Monday, November 13 from 5pm-8pm. Take a flyer or show it on your phone, and 15% of your purchase goes to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Location: Cedar Rapids Pizza Ranch, 2450 Westdale Drive SW. Come Join us for dinner!

FOREVER YOUNG will meet for a potluck on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 12 noon.

LIVING NATIVITY We will once again have our living nativity as part of Mt. Vernon’s Uptown Magical Night event on Thursday, November 30 at the gazebo in Memorial Park. Performances will be at 6:15 & 7:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help take roles or sing with the choir. Rehearsal will be Sunday, Nov. 26 at the church at 6:30pm. Volunteers are also needed to provide cookies and help serve refreshments at the Visitors’ Center.  There are signup sheets on the table in the Narthex. FILL A BOWL, FILL A NEED Mission of Hope is in need of 200 soup bowls at $2 per bowl, and we would like to purchase them in time for our use on December 13 as we serve chili at the noon meal that day. The Mission currently uses styrofoam bowls. The new bowls are melamine and will not break if dropped. You can help by purchasing your favorite “Bowl of Soup” on the bulletin board in the Narthex. Buy a bowl for each member of the family! Cash or checks made payable to St Paul Lutheran Church (memo Mission Soup Bowl). Thanks!

FELLOWSHIP VOLUNTEERS One to two families are needed to provide/serve fellowship on Sunday, Nov. 19. There is a signup sheet on the wall near the counter in the fellowship hall.

NURSERY Additional volunteers are needed to help staff the church nursery during the Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings. Signup sheets to volunteer and a calendar for Sunday morning availability are on the table in the Narthex. Contact Nicki Hanselman for more information: 624-7179, hoosiers@southslope.net.

FUTURE CHURCH NEEDS There are papers on the table in the Narthex that have a list of possible future needs/ideas for St. Paul. Please take one, write down any comments or ideas and put in Willis Wulf’s church mailbox, and he will then determine if a committee should be formed.

Luther Movie Watch Night
The congregation is invited to watch the movie, “Luther” TONIGHT at the church at 6pm. Popcorn will be provided.  Feel free to bring additional snacks and/or comfortable chairs. The movie is rated PG-13.  Parents may want to check out the Plugged In movie review to see if you feel it would be appropriate for your children. We will have a children’s movie playing in the library if you have younger children that need a place to hang out. 

Operation Christmas Child Boxes Due Today
Please turn in your Operation Christmas Child boxes today. You may place them on the small table next to the furnace room in the fellowship hall.  I will be taking them to the drop-off site this week. 

Young Families Bible Study – Date Change
The Young Families Bible Study will meet next Sunday, Nov. 19, rather than the usual last Sunday of the month, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  This month’s topic is teaching thankfulness to our children. 

Christmas Program
We started practicing our Christmas program songs today and will have parts assigned before Thanksgiving.  The program will be on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 4pm.  Please let me know by TODAY if your children are planning to participate in the program. All children and youth ages preschool through high school are encouraged to participate. We will have one Saturday practice on the morning of Dec. 9 at 9am.

Children Sing Next Week
The Sunday School children will be singing “God’s Own Child” for Portlind Schmidt’s baptism at the beginning of worship next Sunday, Nov. 19.  They will practice in the opening that morning.

Can and Bottle Fundraiser: We are going to continue to collect aluminum cans, 20 oz. plastic bottles, and 2 liter bottles to recycle. These may be placed in the can shed boxes located near the chest freezer. If you have glass bottles, please hold onto them, and we will hold a youth collection day soon. We will announce when you can bring them to church. Thank you for your donations!

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS The Three Men in the Fiery Furnace: Daniel 3; Story Bible p. 232. Just as Jesus was with the three men in the fiery furnace and saved them, so our Savior is with us in His Word and Sacraments, sustaining us when we suffer for His name. Questions for discussion include, “Who appeared in the fiery furnace with the three men? How has God rescued us from the fires of hell?” 

PRAYER CHAIN UPDATE Here at St. Paul we have an email prayer chain. There will be a sheet in the Narthex through the end of the year.
