BAPTISM/CONFIRMATION Congratulations to Portlind Schmidt who was welcomed into the Lord’s family through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and Confirmation at our worship service this morning. Please introduce yourself, and welcome Portlind to the congregation of St. Paul.

FELLOWSHIP Thank you to Lorena Freiburger for providing fellowship refreshments today. One to two families are needed to provide/serve fellowship on Sunday, Dec. 17. The signup sheet is on the wall near the counter in the fellowship hall.

THANKSGIVING WORSHIP with communion (Divine Service 1) will be Wednesday evening, Nov. 22 at 6:30pm.  

LIVING NATIVITY We will once again have our living nativity as part of Mt. Vernon’s Uptown Magical Night event on Thursday, November 30 at the gazebo in Memorial Park. Performances will be at 6:15 & 7:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help take roles or sing with the choir. Rehearsal will be Sunday, Nov. 26 at the church at 6:30pm. Volunteers are also needed to provide cookies and help serve refreshments at the Visitors’ Center.  There are signup sheets on the table in the Narthex. FILL A BOWL, FILL A NEED Mission of Hope is in need of 200 soup bowls at $2 per bowl, and we would like to purchase them in time for our use on December 13 as we serve chili at the noon meal that day. The Mission currently uses styrofoam bowls. The new bowls are melamine and will not break if dropped. You can help by purchasing your favorite “Bowl of Soup” on the bulletin board in the Narthex. Buy a bowl for each member of the family! Cash or checks made payable to St Paul Lutheran Church (memo Mission Soup Bowl). Thanks!

DECORATE CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS We will be decorating the church for Christmas on Monday, Nov. 27 from 6-9pm. All congregation members are invited to help.

POINSETTIAS Once again we are accepting monetary donations to purchase poinsettias for the church for Christmas. Please make checks payable to St. Paul with “flowers” in the memo line. Please place donations in the envelope in the secretary’s office by Sunday, Dec. 10.

NEWS FROM THE FAMILY LIFE COORDINATOR

No Sunday School Next WeekThere will be no Sunday School on Nov. 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Sunday School will resume at the normal time on Dec. 3.

Christmas Program
Parts were handed out to students today.  If your K-12 student did not get a part, please check your mailbox.  Also, families with preschool – 3rd grade children should all receive a CD of the music in their mailboxes today.  We will have one Saturday practice on the morning of Dec. 9 at 9 a.m.  Please mark this on your calendar and plan for your child(ren) to attend.

Christmas Program Soup Supper
There will be a soup supper following the Christmas program on Dec. 10.  We need people to provide soup, crackers, rolls, and veggies.  There is a signup sheet on the table in the Narthex.

Can and Bottle Fundraiser: We are going to continue to collect aluminum cans, 20 oz. plastic bottles, and 2 liter bottles to recycle. These may be placed in the can shed boxes located near the chest freezer. If you have glass bottles, please hold onto them, and we will hold a youth collection day soon. We will announce when you can bring them to church. Thank you for your donations!

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS Daniel in the Lions’ Den: Daniel 6; Story Bible p. 241. Jesus, who saved Daniel, would Himself be given over to the satanic lion to save the world. Parents could ask, “Who did God use to keep Daniel safe? How does God keep us safely with Himself?” 

TERRI LYNN NUTS AND CANDIES are here. Make checks payable to the Priscilla Guild and place in the wooden lock box. Proceeds go toward missions. 

NURSERY Additional volunteers are needed to help staff the church nursery during the Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings. Signup sheets to volunteer and a calendar for Sunday morning availability are on the table in the Narthex. Contact Nicki Hanselman for more information: 624-7179, hoosiers@southslope.net. 

FUTURE CHURCH NEEDS There are papers on the table in the Narthex that have a list of possible future needs/ideas for St. Paul. Please take one, write down any comments or ideas and put in Willis Wulf’s church mailbox, and he will then determine if a committee should be formed. 

PRAYER CHAIN UPDATE Here at St. Paul we have an email prayer chain. There will be a sheet in the Narthex through the end of the year. If you would like to be added, please write your name and email on the sheet, or if you would like to be removed, please cross off your name. Any questions, please contact Tracy.

PROJECT 60 The Lisbon School will once again be hosting the Project 60 Christmas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 7 from 11am-2pm. The dinner is for seniors 60 and older in the Lisbon/Mt. Vernon area. There will be a meal, entertainment and Bingo. There is no cost, but donations are welcome. Reservations are appreciated but not required. (Contact Cathy Whitman at 455-2106 to make reservations.)
