Vacation Bible School – July 15-19
The snow has barely melted, but it’s never too early to start thinking about VBS!  We’re starting to recruit volunteers for our Splash Canyon adventure.  VBS will be the evenings of July 15-19 from 6-8 p.m.  We will be needing volunteers for crafts, music, Bible challenge, crew leaders, games, decorating, and more!  Please take a look at the sign-up sheet on the table in the Narthex to see where your gifts could best be used.  Not sure what each role entails?  Feel free to ask either Brenda Bany or me, and we’ll be happy to explain.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS: Peter’s Escape from Prison: Acts 12; Story Bible p. 440
“As it was for Peter, so it is for us” is the message of today’s Sunday School lesson (Acts 12). The Word of God is never proclaimed in vain. Though we suffer because of the sin of others, God’s will is done. Talk with your children about modern-day persecution of the Church of God and how, even in the midst of persecution, God sustains and increases His Church. How does God’s Word break through the chains of our sin and the suffering it causes?

NURSERY Additional volunteers are needed to help staff the church nursery during the Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings. Signup sheets to volunteer and a calendar for Sunday morning availability are on the table in the Narthex. Contact Nicki Hanselman for more information: 624-7179, hoosiers@southslope.net.

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF KITS The Priscilla Guild is collecting items for baby care kits for LWR. A donation basket is on the table by the entry doors in the Narthex. Also on the table are lists of items needed and guidelines about those items. There is an instruction sheet to make homemade diapers out of t-shirts as well. Contact Gloria Krob for more information.

LWML SPRING ZONE RALLY You can get involved in mission work without leaving Iowa! Lutheran Women in Mission are gathering Saturday, April 14 to energize one another at our Spring Zone Rally at Bethany in Cedar Rapids. Registration begins at 8:30am, and breakfast will be served at 9am. Enjoy a presentation by Ronda Anderson, speaking on “Letting Your Faith Shine During Times of Trial”. Plan to attend “God’s Wisdom in our Suffering: Lessons from Job”. Signup sheet is in the Narthex.

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES Ever have one of those days when it feels as if no one cares? Next time you do, remember these profound and true promises from the One who knows you better than anyone ever will and loves you regardless of what your life has become: I will listen to you (Jeremiah 29:12); I will be with you (Isaiah 43:1); I will watch over you (Psalm 50:15); I will deliver you (Psalm 50:15).
