SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS Paul and Silas in Prison: Acts 16:16-40; Story Bible p. 453. Just as God freed Paul and Silas from prison, granting them life out of death, so Christ by His crucifixion and resurrection frees me from the prison of my sins and grants me life eternal. Questions for discussion include “How is this event more than just a story about Paul’s escape from prison?” and “How has God rescued us from the prison of sin?”
CONGRATULATIONS to Andy and Stephanie Jones as Andy received his first call out of the Seminary. They will be relocating to California serving First Lutheran Church in Concord (California/Nevada/Hawaii District). Keep them in your prayers as they begin this new journey.
THANK YOU to all Thrivent Members who directed Choice Dollars to St. Paul Lutheran Church for 2017! Recipients of our projects include SE Linn Food Pantry, Mount Vernon Hometown Holidays, care packages for college students, Mission of Hope, Chalk the Walk, and Matthew 25. Please see a council member if you have a project that you believe St. Paul should consider funding today.

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES The truth hurts, or so they say, but lies hurt so much worse. Whether you are a teenager relating to your parent or a husband or wife relating to your spouse, pledge to always be truthful even (and maybe most especially) when it would seem easier not to. Don’t try to cover things up. Trust is eroded, which puts the relationship at great risk. “We trap ourselves by telling lies, but we stay out of trouble by living right.” Proverbs 12:13 Lutheran Family Service (Quad Cities Reginal office 563-359-0696 or LFSiowa.org).
