FOOD PANTRY The first Sunday of every month is Food Pantry Sunday. Donations received on this day go to benefit the Southeast Linn Comm. Center Food Pantry. Be sure to pick up an envelope in the Narthex and place your donation in the offering plate during worship.

BAPTISM Congratulations to Ryker David Robison who was welcomed into the Lord’s family through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at a private ceremony at the church yesterday. Parents are Brad and Julie Robison, and sibling Brecken.

FOREVER YOUNG will meet this Tuesday, May 8 at 12pm at the church for a potluck. All are invited!

ASCENSION SERVICE This year we are celebrating The Ascension of Our Lord with a Divine Service on Thursday, May 10 at 6:30pm. The Ascension of our Lord is the fulfillment of Jesus’ Incarnation and the foundation of Pentecost. It is one of the principal feasts of the Church and a wonderful opportunity to better know and celebrate the salvation He has accomplished for us. All are welcome.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY The next monthly women’s Bible Study will be next Saturday, May 12 at 10:30am at Cabin Coffee in Lisbon. All women of the congregation are invited to attend. Contact Gloria Krob for more information.

GRADUATE RECOGNITION We will be recognizing high school and college graduates of the congregation next Sunday, May 13. If you have a graduate, please forward the following information to Tracy TODAY: Name, parents, birthdate, school graduating from, future plans.

PRISCILLA GUILD GARAGE SALE The Priscilla Guild will be having their annual garage sale and food booth on Saturday, August 4. Collection for items for the sale will begin the week of May 21 (after the last day of Sunday School on the 20th). Please place items in the designated rooms in the Sunday School wing.

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF KITS The Priscilla Guild is collecting items for baby care kits for LWR. A donation basket is on the table by the entry doors in the Narthex. Also on the table are lists of items needed and guidelines about those items. There is an instruction sheet to make homemade diapers out of t-shirts as well. Backpack School Kits for Orphan Grain Train
Thanks to those who have brought school supplies for our backpack school kits.  The Sunday School children and youth will be putting the kits together next Sunday during the Sunday School hour.  Orphan Grain Train will distribute them to children both in the U.S. and other countries. 

Celebration Breakfast on May 20
We hope that you can join us in celebrating the end of the year with a breakfast on Sunday, May 20 at 8:15 a.m.  The breakfast will take the place of Sunday School that day.  All members are invited to attend.  Breakfast casseroles will be provided.  Families are asked to bring a side dish or baked good to share.

 Vacation Bible School – July 15-19
Get ready for a rip-roaring rafting VBS! We’re starting to recruit volunteers for our Splash Canyon adventure.  VBS will be the evenings of July 15-19 from 6-8 p.m.  We will be needing volunteers for crafts, music, Bible challenge, crew leaders, decorating, and more!  Please take a look at the signup sheet on the table in the Narthex to see where your gifts could best be used. You can register online at or by filling out the paper registration forms located on the table in the Narthex.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS Paul Sails for Rome: Acts 27; Story Bible p. 459. As Christ was with Paul and His companions, so He is with me, holding me up, keeping me with Him in the ship of the Church, and casting all my sins into the depths of the sea. Parents could ask, “Who and what did God use to keep Paul safe? How does God keep us safely with Him?”

IED LWML CONVENTION ROCK-A-THON The Cedar Rapids Zone has a team participating in the rock-a-thon at the convention (June 15-16 at the Cedar Rapids Marriott Convention Center). If you would like to make a pledge, there is a pledge sheet (and envelopes to send your pledge) on the table in the Narthex. All money raised by this event goes to IED Mites, and the first $500 will be matched by LCEF. For more information, contact Vickie Ozburn.

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES Since President Kennedy first declared it so in 1953, May has been recognized as Older Americans’ Month. Older Iowans provide strong and valuable leadership in our church, community, and family life with their wealth of knowledge, life experience, work ethic, faith, and generosity.
