TABLE TALKS Join us for Table Talk as part of our continuing church planning process. During fellowship time after the worship service on June 3, 10, & 17, we’ll dedicate three tables to discuss three broad topics that emerged through previous planning meetings: Spirit (worship, & learning), Community (volunteerism & activities), and Home (physical property & improvements). In this stage of the planning process, we want to flesh-out specific ideas, outline challenges and solutions, and start to create action plans. These are informal chats, but we will have volunteer facilitators for each topic, and we will use templates to help guide the discussions. For more information, contact Council President Scott Baumler.

MISSION OF HOPE MEAL St. Paul will be providing/serving the noon meal at Mission of Hope on Wednesday, June 13. Volunteers are needed to provide bars and to help serve at the mission. There are signup sheets in the Narthex.

Summer Adult Bible Study – Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
We will be offering an adult Bible study on Wednesday evenings this summer beginning on June 6.  We will be using the book Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up by Matthew Richard.  This study will remind us who the real Jesus of the Bible is, and also reveal to us twelve false christs who are embraced, loved, promoted, and revered – even by well-meaning Christians.  The plan is to begin at 6:30 p.m. except on the evenings where there is an Evening Prayer service.  On those evenings, we will start following the prayer service (around 7 p.m.).

Register Now for our Rip-Roaring Rafting VBS!
Life is full of thrills and spills; we may not know what’s around the bend, but God does! At Splash Canyon, kids discover that on life’s wild ride, Jesus is by our side.  Children ages 3 through entering 5th grade should make plans to attend our Splash Canyon Vacation Bible School the evenings of July 15-19.  You can register online at the church website: or you may use the paper copies that are on the table in the Narthex.  Please place completed registrations in my mailbox.  Please register by June 24, if possible, so we can pre-order t-shirts for the children.

Volunteer for VBS
We still need a few more volunteers – specifically, we need crew leaders (take groups from station to station), a Bible Challenge leader (help kids learn and remember the verse of the day), and an Opening/Closing leader.  There is a volunteer signup on the table in the Narthex.  Please contact me or Brenda Bany if you have any questions.

Large Cardboard, Paper Sacks, and Plastic Bags Needed for VBS Decorations
We can use your large pieces of cardboard (like appliance boxes, etc.), paper grocery sacks, and plastic bags for our Splash Canyon VBS decorations.  Place them in the Sunday School office prior to July 9.

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES Pssttt…have you ever noticed that it is hard to ignore the whispered conversations of others nearby? Parents, take advantage of this reality by talking about the important things you want your kids to know…and do it just barely within their hearing distance. When they overhear you sharing words of love for your spouse, the more secure they will feel in your family. The more positive comments they overhear you making about their teacher, the more cooperative they will be with her at school. The more they hear you talking about how much you appreciate your pastor, the more they will respect him. Lutheran Family Service (Quad Cities Regional Office 563-359-0696 or
