SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS God’s Covenant with Abram: Genesis 12:1–9; 15:1–6; 17; Story Bible p. 50. In Sunday School today, our children studied “God’s Covenant with Abram.” As He did for Abram, God keeps His promises, as He did in giving His own Son, Jesus, to be our Savior. Consider discussing, “What important promises do we make as a family? How can we remind ourselves of the promises God keeps for us?”

CHRIST’S LOVE IN ACTION AT WORK – MARSHALLTOWN OUTREACH At the July Voters’ meeting, it was asked if the Council would research any needs regarding the aftermath of the devastating F3 tornado that ripped through Marshalltown, IA leaving behind 89 homes and 7 businesses destroyed and another 525 homes severely damaged. It was approved to spend up to $5,000 out of our Outreach Fund. The Council is happy to report that we have been able to locate several needs, and $1,000 was sent to both Orphan Grain Train of Central Iowa and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown to aid them in their efforts to serve those most in need. Keep up the great work St. Paul!

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES Do hurtful or disrespectful words sometimes come out of your mouth during the week as you interact with your family? If so, know that continuing this habit is damaging to your relationships in ways that you might not even know. Try memorizing this verse and call it to memory when you are tempted to bite at someone you love this week: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14) Lutheran Family Service (Quad Cities Regional Office 563-359-0696 or LFSiowa.org).
