Noteworthy News 11/25/18

MUFFINS FOR MITES Please join us in fellowship today as the Priscilla Guild sponsors “Muffins for Mites”. Your fellowship donations will go to support the continued mission work of the LWML. 

DECORATE CHURCH We will be decorating the church for the Christmas season on Monday, Nov. 26 from 6-9pm. All congregation members are invited to help.

LIVING NATIVITY We will once again have our living nativity as part of Mt. Vernon’s Uptown Magical Night event on Thursday, November 29 at the gazebo in Memorial Park. Performances will be at 6:15 & 7:00 p.m. Rehearsal will be TONIGHT at 6:30pm at the church.

MEN’S BREAKFAST will be next Saturday, December 1 at 8am at the church. All men are invited.

FELLOWSHIP One to two families are needed to provide/serve fellowship on Sunday, Dec. 16. There is a signup sheet on the wall in the fellowship hall near the counter.

ADVENT DEVOTIONALS Advent devotionals from Lutheran Hour Ministries are available on the table in the Narthex. Please take as many as you would like, more can be printed. Regular and large print are available. The theme this year is “The Coming King.”

TERRI LYNN nuts and candies are here. Prices are marked on the bags/boxes. Place payment in the wooden lock box. Make checks payable to St. Paul Priscilla Guild. Proceeds go toward missions. 

POINSETTIAS Once again we are accepting monetary donations to purchase poinsettias for the church for Christmas. Please make checks payable to St. Paul with “flowers” in the memo line. Please place donations in the envelope in the secretary’s office by Sunday, Dec. 9. 

NURSERY Volunteers are needed to staff the church nursery during the Sunday School hour. Two people are needed each Sunday. There is a signup sheet in the Narthex for Sundays through the end of the year. Any questions, please contact Erica McConaughy.

PRAYER CHAIN Here at St. Paul we have an email prayer chain. There will be a sheet in the Narthex through the end of the year. If you would like to be added, please write your name and email on the sheet, or if you would like to be removed, please cross off your name. Any questions, please contact Tracy.

NEWS FROM THE FAMILY LIFE COORDINATOR         

Young Families Bible Study Cancelled
Due to the Christmas program practice schedule, we will not be having the young families Bible study on Dec. 2. We will resume our study on Jan. 6.

Family Advent Activity
St. Paul families and singles of all ages are invited to attend an Advent activity on Sunday, December 2 from 2:30 – 5:00 p.m.  We will be learning about Advent and making an Advent wreath for each household to take home and use throughout the season.  We will finish by watching the animated movie, “The Star and enjoying some popcorn and snacks.  Please sign up in the Narthex BY TODAY if you would like to come so we can have adequate supplies for everyone.

Christmas Program Update
The Sunday School children have begun practicing their songs for the Christmas program.  Participants should plan to attend practice this Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9-11 a.m.

Youth Musicians Wanted for Christmas Program
Children and youth have the opportunity to share their musical talents at the beginning of the Christmas program on Dec. 9. They may play their instruments, share a piano piece, or sing a Christmas carol.  The youth may select their own music, though we ask that it be appropriate for a church setting.  There is a signup sheet on the table in the Narthex. Please sign up BY TODAY if you plan to participate.

Caroling – Dec. 16
Save the date for Christmas caroling on December 16.  We will plan to go following fellowship and meet back at the church for a soup luncheon.

ACH OF TITHES & OFFERINGS Beginning January 1, 2019, members will be able to submit their tithes and offerings electronically using ACH transfers from checking or savings accounts. Electronic giving is convenient for you and provides consistency for our church. Transfers will be initiated by St Paul Lutheran Church through Mount Vernon Bank & Trust on the 15th and the 30th of the month with a $10 minimum offering amount required. The service is free of charge to members and to St Paul. Forms are in the back of the Narthex and can be returned to the Treasurer. Sign up today!

PROJECT 60 The Lisbon School will once again be hosting the Project 60 Christmas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 11am-2pm. The dinner is for seniors 60 and older in the Lisbon/Mt. Vernon area. There will be a meal, entertainment and Bingo. There is no cost, but donations are welcome. RSVP by Nov. 26 to Cathy Whitman at 455-2106 ext. 107.
