Noteworthy News 3/10/19

LENTEN MEALS AND SERVICES continue this week on Wednesday, March 13. The meal (freewill offering) is served from 5:15-6:15pm, and the Lenten worship service is at 6:30pm. Midweek classes and the Wednesday evening adult Bible study will meet after the service. The theme for the Lenten season is “Behold the Man!”. Accompanying devotionals for the season are on the table in the Narthex. There are also a few Lenten devotionals from Lutheran Hour Ministries on the table as well.

MISSION OF HOPE MEAL St. Paul will be serving the noon meal at Mission of Hope on Wednesday, March 13. People are needed to provide food (brownies, bars, cookies) and also prepare, transport and serve the meal. There are signup sheets on the table in the Narthex.

FELLOWSHIP Volunteers are needed to provide/serve fellowship for March 17 (cutoff to sign up is TODAY) and March 24 (cutoff to sign up is March 17). Signup is on the wall near the counter in the fellowship hall.

LWR KITS Continuing through March, the Priscilla Guild is collecting all items for personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief. There is a list of items needed by the donation basket near the church entry doors. Contact Gloria Krob for more information.

NURSERY Volunteers are needed to staff the church nursery during the Sunday School hour. Two people are needed each Sunday. There is a signup sheet in the Narthex for Sundays through May. Any questions, please contact Erica McConaughy.

CAMPERSHIPS The St. Paul Priscilla Guild is offering campership funds to youth of the congregation for summer church camp. Camperships are not based on need. They are a “thank you” for all the support the congregation gives to the Priscilla Guild. If you are interested, please contact Susan Adrian ( with requests by May 15.

PRISCILLA GUILD ANNUAL GARAGE SALE will be SATURDAY, JUNE 15 this year (a change from previous years). You may start putting donation items in the Sunday School wing following the last day of Sunday School on Sunday, May 19.


The youth will serve the Lenten meal on the following Wednesdays: March 13, April 3 and April 10. Please have youth plan to arrive at 4:30 those evenings. Please see Sonya if you have any questions.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS Today in Sunday School the children learned about Lent.  Ask your children to share some of the interesting facts they learned.  Also, be on the watch for an art display made with crosses decorated by the children to remind us of Jesus’ sacrifice for us.

ST. PAUL’S LUTH. CHAPEL IOWA CITY VARIETY SHOW The annual “Variety! An Evening of Talented Performers and Delectable Desserts”, will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City (2301 E. Court St.) on Saturday, March 30 at 7pm. The event is presented by St. Paul’s Chapel in Iowa City, and proceeds go to the annual trip to the LCMS National Campus Ministry Conference.
