ASCENSION WORSHIP SERVICE Come celebrate The Ascension of Our Lord with a Divine Service on Thursday, May 30 at 6:30pm. The Ascension of our Lord is the fulfillment of Jesus’ Incarnation and the foundation of Pentecost. It is one of the principal feasts of the Church and a wonderful opportunity to better know and celebrate the salvation He has accomplished for us. All are welcome.

YOU’RE INVITED Kate Margheim would like to invite her church family to her high school graduation party on Friday, May 31 from 6-9pm at her home (603 5th Avenue North, Mt. Vernon). It’s an open house event, so please stop to wish Kate well, and stay for pulled pork and cake!

MEN’S BREAKFAST will be Saturday, June 1 at 8am at the church. All men are invited!

PRISCILLA GUILD ANNUAL GARAGE SALE will be SATURDAY, JUNE 15 this year (a change from previous years). Please place donated items in the designated rooms in the Sunday School wing. (NO TVs PLEASE) Signups for food/workers are in the Narthex. Parents/Adults: Please make sure children are accompanied by an adult if they are in the Sunday School wing prior to the garage sale in June. The Priscilla Guild would like to make sure all donated items remain in their designated rooms, and also some items may pose a safety risk to children. Thank you!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Volunteers are needed to provide/serve fellowship on June 16 & 23. Signup is on the wall near the counter in fellowship hall. The cutoff to sign up is one week prior.

LWR During May the Priscilla Guild is collecting items for baby care kits for Lutheran World Relief. Lists of items currently needed for the kits are on the LWR table in the Narthex (please take one). Please follow the specific guidelines. Also on the table are directions for fleece blankets if you would like to contribute in that way as well.

Summer Adult Bible Study: “The Life You Crave”, Wednesdays at 6:30pm
Do you ever wonder what your next step should be? If there is more to life? Do you crave something better?  More than security or wealth success or popularity, what we really need is to be loved, to matter. But with all our inner strength and the world’s create-your-own destiny attitude, with all our technology and know-how and savvy, we are helpless to truly satisfy that craving on our own.  God offers us grace. Pure, lavish, unending grace. Discover the life you crave. Join us for the adult Bible study on Wednesday evenings this summer beginning on June 12.  We will be using the book The Life You Crave by Michael W. Newman.  The plan is to begin at 6:30pm except on the evenings where there is Evening Prayer service.  On those evenings, we will start following the prayer service (around 7pm).

Upcoming Dates
July 12 – Adult Bible Study, 6:30pm
July 13 – Heritage Days Parade
July 21 – 25 – VBS, 6-8 p.m.

You can also get started on applying by submitting a summer service profile at www.nloma.org, but be sure to put Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca down as your 1st camp preference!

EVANGUARD “A Camp on Biblical Masculinity” will be held at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca from June 9 at 5pm to June 12 at 1pm. This is for all men and boys 8 years and older. See details on the flyer in the Narthex. Register at evanguard.godaddysites.com.

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES Did You Know: Teens spend about nine hours a day online. That’s not okay. Setting limits, being familiar with apps, and maintaining open communication are essential when raising teens. Participation in summer activities such as sports are great alternatives to screen time. Learn more through blog posts from our counselors on LFS’ web site. Lutheran Family Service (Quad Cities Area 563-359-0696 or http://www.lutheranfamilyservice.org)
